As a PROUD educational leader in the Palmerston community, we are privileged to be part of Palmerston City Schools where we lead as one from students, parents, teachers and educational leaders.

Our AIM is to provide the very best education for Palmerston families to give the children and youth of Palmerston INFINITE opportunities within our community and GLOBALLY.

Together with students, families and our staff we look forward to building long-lasting relationships.

College Principal, Ms Maisie Floyd

Maisie Floyd is a dedicated educational leader and the Principal of Palmerston College. With a Bachelor of Education from the University of Tasmania and a Professional Certificate in Mentoring from the University of Melbourne, Maisie has built a strong foundation in education. Her extensive career, spanning over 25 years, has seen her excel in various roles, including Principal at Tennant Creek High School and Senior Director of School Improvement and Leadership.

Maisie’s vision is to create an approachable work environment that fosters trust and encourages other leaders to shape a better educational landscape. She is committed to ensuring that every student receives the support they need to succeed, and she emphasises the importance of positive relationships and high expectations in achieving academic excellence.

Recognised for her excellence, Maisie has received numerous awards, including the Barkly Region Principal of the Year multiple times and the Northern Territory Principal of the Year. Her leadership is characterised by a focus on evidence-based decision-making, strategic planning, and continuous improvement, all aimed at enhancing educational outcomes for students and schools. Through her dedication and expertise, Maisie continues to make a significant impact on the educational community.

Head of Campus Years 7-9, Ms Kristy Beynon

Kristi Beynon is a committed and enthusiastic educational leader whose teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in the principle of equity. She believes that every student deserves the support they need to reach their full potential. Kristi is committed to acknowledging, celebrating, and embracing students’ cultural values and worldviews, ensuring these are central to their identity as learners. She emphasises the importance of positive relationships in achieving high levels of student academic success and works tirelessly to foster a school culture rich in collective teacher efficacy and high expectations. Kristi has held various leadership roles, including Acting Director of Improvement and Assistant Director of School Improvement for the East Arnhem Region. Kristi’s dedication to education is further evidenced by her numerous awards, including the Northern Territory Leader of the Year Award for the Alice Springs Region in 2019.

Kristi’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Physical Education from the Australian College of Physical Education in Sydney and a Leadership for School Improvement Course from QELI in Darwin. She has also completed specialized training in special education needs and trauma-informed positive behaviour support. Through her various roles and continuous professional development, Kristi remains committed to promoting equity, fostering positive relationships, and maintaining high expectations to drive student success.

Head of Campus Years 10-12, Ms Annette Pedersen

Ms. Pedersen has dedicated 26 years to the field of education, beginning her career as a Health and Physical Education teacher in Queensland. In 2008, she transitioned to the Northern Territory, where she has held various leadership roles. Since 2013, Ms. Pedersen has served as an Assistant Principal at Katherine High School, Rosebery Middle School, Casuarina Senior College, and Darwin High School. She is committed to fostering student success and actively collaborates with families and carers. Ms. Pedersen is also passionate about with the Palmerston community.

Qualification: Bachelor of Education (Secondary) – Queensland University of Technology. CEM Bio.

Student Leadership

As College Captains, we are PROUD to welcome students of all abilities and cultural backgrounds to our college. Student voice is represented by year level captains and key groups within our college. We AIM to demonstrate the high expectations and we are also leadership mentors within our Palmerston City Schools community. There are INFINITE opportunities to represent the views of student voice at the College, in the Palmerston community, in the education community and at a Territory and state level, as well as GLOBALLY through our international sister schools partnerships.

Our Student Leadership Team (SLT) are the voice for students from across the college, organising student consultation, actively participate in College decision making, fundraising activities and supporting other worthwhile causes.
